80% of Greenland’s territory is covered by a sort of immense ice cap called the ice sheet which is a relicat of the glacial periods. The interior of the island thus remains, until now and despite the melting of the ice, an immense desert of ice with climatic conditions often extreme. In this frozen interior, the average altitude exceeds 2,000 meters

The first arrivals had almost disappeared and the Inuit peoples now living in Greenland did not settle there until the early eighteenth century.

  1. Wow, Greenland has always fascinated me and I am so excited for my first trip there this year. I didn’t realise the Inuit people were such a ‘recent’ settlement! Your pictures are so colourful- the skies are brilliant blue! Did you find it expensive?
