3) Englischer Garten
The Englischer Garten is a large green area of almost 375 hectares in the northeast of Munich in the district of Schwabing.
Among the largest landscaped gardens in the world (larger than Central Park in New York or Hyde Park in London), the Englischer Garten is the green lung of Munich with its large expanses of lawns – frequented in summer by nudists . It is one of the most popular tourist and meeting places for tourists and tourists.
The garden, opened in 1792 to the public, has a design inspired by the English garden model and was designed by Friedrich Ludwig von Sckell. The idea came to the American physicist Sir Benjamin Thompson (1753-1814), better known as Count Rumford, Minister of War and Social Reformer under Charles Theodore, who first suggested a military garden and then a public garden . His successor, Maximilian IV, became steward of the garden and significantly influenced the park.
The Englischer Garten is divided into two parts by a road, the Isarring. The northern part is called Hirschau, Hirsche meaning deer in German. (All my photos are from the North)…… [wikipedia.org]
