Edouard Manet (born in Paris on January 23, 1832 – died in Paris on April 30, 1883) is a major French painter of the late nineteenth century. Forerunner of modern painting, which he frees from the académismenote, Édouard Manet is wrongly considered as one of the fathers of impressionismenote: he distinguishes himself from it by an invoice worried about reality that does not use ( or little) the new techniques of color and the special treatment of light.
