Jan Frans van Bloemen
Jan Frans van Bloemen (born May 12, 1662 in Antwerp and died June 13, 1749 in Rome) was a Flemish painter of the Baroque period best known for his landscape compositions.
Il a voyagé à Paris (1682) , Lyon , Anvers ( 1694 ) et Amsterdam. 1724, Jan Frans resta à Rome pour le reste de sa vie, à l’exception de quelques voyages à Naples, en Sicile et à Malte qu’il entreprit avec son frère Pieter. Le peintre Néerlandais Caspar van Wittel, qui a vécu à Rome depuis 1675, est devenu le parrain de son premier enfant.
Van Bloemen was successful in Rome and received commissions for the painting of large vedute from prominent patrons such as the Queen of Spain Elizabeth Farnese, the Roman nobility and the Pope. [Wikipedia]
