The City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia.
The complex, designed by the architect and engineer Santiago Calatrava, and Félix Candela, was inaugurated on 16 April 1998 with the opening of L’Hemisfèric. The Sofia Palace of the Arts, was presented on 9 October 2005, the day of Comunidad Valenciana. The Golden Assut Bridge was inaugurated on 11 December 2008. The last element of the City of Arts and Sciences, Ágora, was inaugurated in November 2009.
After a flood in 1957, the bed of the Turia River crossing Valencia had been deviated. Since the 1980s, the part corresponding to the city center had been transformed into gardens and promenades for city dwellers. The mouth of this ancient bed offers the site of contemporary construction of the city of sciences. The complex covers an area of 350,000 m2.
The City of Arts and Sciences is organized around three main themes: arts, sciences, and nature.
They consist of: L’Hemisfèric (shaped like an eye), L’Oceanogràfic (in the shape of a water lily), Palace of Arts Reina Sofía (in the shape of a boat), and L’Ágora (building, metal structure)

SOURCE OF THE 8 ACEQUIA OF VALENCIA
The fountain consists of a large oblong cup, that is to say of uneven axes, in whose center and on a pedestal lies semirrecostado, or with the torso in an accentuated inclination, a bearded man that represents the River Turia, distant but evident memory, Of the Hellenistic, Nile and Romanian plasma of the Tiber.
Here, the fluvial character sustains, and is supported in turn in him, a great horn of abundance, overflowing with fruits, typical of the old emblematic of Valencia.
Around it, on each pedestal of semicircular section, there are eight naked girls or adolescents, with hairstyle and comb of Valencian labrador; All with a pitcher of water, and representing the eight ditches of the Turia
