Vis is a Croatian island of the Adriatic, off Split, attached to the county of Split-Dalmatia, located north-west of the large island of Korčula.
The island of Vis covers an area of 90.3 km2 and is 17 km long and 8 km wide.With the small neighboring islands of Biševo, Jabuka and Svetac, it forms a small archipelago located about fifty kilometers from the Dalmatian coast. Vis has two cities, Vis and Komiža, and several localities.
The main sources of income for the island are agriculture (mainly viticulture), fishing and tourism. The island has become a major spot for scuba diving, very popular with foreign tourists. [Wikipedia]
