Fiji Islands
The Republic of Fiji, is a country of Oceania located in the South Pacific Ocean. Total area 18,270 km2. Its population (July 2015) 909 3891 hab. Its capital city and big city: Suva.

History:
The Fiji Islands were discovered by the explorer Abel Tasman in the seventeenth century, with its ancient Austronesian inhabitants.
In the nineteenth century, the Europeans colonized these islands to occupy them permanently. In 1874, the islands were under British control until their independence on 10 October 1970.

Geography:
Fiji consists of Of the 322 islands and 522 islets, that make up the archipelago, 106 are permanently inhabited. The relief is mountainous, with steep peaks culminating at 1300 meters. The two most important islands are Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.

The climate is divided into two major seasons: from November to April, the rainy season, with high humidity and precipitation, especially between December and early April; The dry season or Fijian winter, from May to October, where there is little rain, mild temperatures and less or no cyclones.
