Charente-Maritime is a French department located in the west of France, on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean.
The relief of Charente-maritime is dominated by plains, hills, beaches and four islands. Its nature benefits from natural sites and reserves, from a submediterranean flora, and from the great Atlantic route of bird migration, in particular white and black storks.
