Hallstatt is a village in the Salzkammergut region of Austria. It is known to house the site of the Iron Age, from the civilization to which we gave its name, the Hallstatt civilization. Rummaged by Johann Georg Ramsauer from 1846 to 1868, he delivered nearly a thousand tombs, dating from the seventh century BC.    [Wikipedia]
