
Londonderry, Derry and Irish Doire, is a town in the district of Strabane, in the north-west of Northern Ireland in the United Kingdom. It is the second most populous city in Northern Ireland.
Founded in the early 17th century on a hill on the west bank of the River Foyle, the town experienced an exceptional boom to the north and the right bank of the river in the 1850s, when the manufacture of linen shirts took off. importance , and light industries (such as agro-food) are set up.
