The Andean Mountains (Andes Cordillera), is the longest mountain range in the world, oriented north-south all along the west coast of South America. The cordillera, which is approximately 7,100 kilometers long, 200 to 800 kilometers long, has an average altitude of 4,000 meters and is 6,962 meters (Aconcagua-Argentina). It begins in Venezuela in the north then crosses Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina, to the southern tip of the continent.
