Erofey Khabarov, Privokzalnaya Square, Khabarovsk, Russia

Ierofei Pavlovich Khabarov (born in 1603 and died after 1671), was a Russian peasant from the Veliki Ustiug region who explored the Lena and Love. In 1625 Khabarov sailed from Tobolsk to Mangazeia. In 1632-1641 he reached the Lena River and founded an agricultural establishment. In 1649-1650 Khabarov crossed the Olekma and reached Love. Khabarov traced the map of the Amur River. He beat a local potentate daur and founded the Russian city of Albazine at the site of his capital. A city and a railway station « Ierofei Pavlovich » on the Trans-Siberian Railway bear his name.
