This concert hall is located in the Saint-Pierre district of Barcelona. It is the work of Lluís Domènech i Montaner, one of the main architects representing Catalan modernism.
The construction of this theater lasted from 1905 to 1908; The architect innovates with the use of curtain walls and uses a wide variety of artistic techniques: sculptures, mosaics, stained-glass windows and ironworks.
After three years of work, the palace was inaugurated on February 9, 1908.

The building is commissioned by the association “Orféo Català” (Orphéon Catalan) who wishes to make it its headquarters. The funds come from patronage: industrialists, financiers, notables and music lovers finance the construction.
The hall’s primary vocation is to receive choral concerts, symphonic music and recitals. It is used today for all types of music, from classical to modern music.
The Palace of Catalan Music was declared a Spanish National Monument in 1971. It was then declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.

The history of the Palace of Music is rich. The greatest performers, orchestras and conductors have played. From 1920 to 1936, the orchestra Pablo Casals works at the palace. Pablo Casals, Richard Strauss, Vincent d’Indy, Igor Stravinsky, Arnold Schönberg, Anton Webern, Arthur Honegger, Manuel de Falla and Eugène Ysaÿe. The Barcelona Symphony Orchestra remains there until it moved to the auditorium in 1999.The architecture of the Palace is representative of Catalan modernism by the use of curves that predominate on straight lines, by the preference given to dynamic forms on static forms, and by the many floral and organic motifs used.
