Sumatra, the sixth largest island on the planet (473,481 km²), whose inhabitants (51 million) live at the rate of extreme nature, both a source of wealth and disaster. This particularly rich ecosystem is subject to volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, floods and tsunamis. The lush vegetation is the refuge of an abundant fauna: the orangutan, the tiger and the Sumatran rhino. The island also has the advantages of deserted beaches and shores.
Sumatra brings together a mosaic of peoples: Muslims, Christians and the matrilineal society of the Minangkabau of Padang. They all coexist with the same love for the land and for nature.
