The county of Västra Götaland (name meaning “Western Gothia”) is a region located on the southwest coast of Sweden, opposite the Danish coast.
Its capital is Gothenburg, the seat of the regional council is in Vänersborg.
Area: 23,945 km2
Population: 1,724,000 inhabitants

The Almö Bridge, The Almö Bridge (inaugurated in 1960), which linked the island of Tjörn to the Swedish mainland. The bridge collapsed on January 18, 1980, following an accident. A new cable-stayed bridge, the Tjörn Bridge, was built and inaugurated in 1981. ( Image source: en.wikipedia )
